Jan welcomes int'l break

SotonSouthampton boss Jan Poortvliet says the international break has come at the right time as his young players are in need of a rest.

Saints were on a good run until they were hammered 4-1 at Coventry on Saturday and Poortvliet will now use the break to get some rest into his players, while it will also give him time to reflect on the club's start to the season.

"We must learn from every mistake we make, and confidence is one thing but you also have to fight," said Poortvliet. "That's what we will be working on in the international break, we have to be a team.

"The players need to recuperate now. They are still a young team and they will need some rest. But young or old, it's all about concentration and the will to win. That's more important than experience, but it takes time to learn that."
