Southampton captain Adam Lallana may miss the hectic festive period after suffering knee ligament damage in the win over Reading.

The Saints midfielder left St Mary's on crutches after being removed from the action in the first-half of the 1-0 win over the Royals on Saturday.

The extent of the injury is not yet known but it seems as if Lallana will miss the Premier League ties with Sunderland, Fulham, Stoke and Arsenal over the Christmas period.

Lallana's absence will come as a major blow to Saints as the 24-year-old has been in fine form this season and has started every league fixture to date.
