Rickie Lambert could be on his way out of Southampton with West Ham reportedly preparing a bid for the striker.
Lambert was the top-scoring English-born player in the Premier League last year, with 15 goals, but has been linked with a move away from the south coast this summer.
Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino, who replaced Nigel Adkins in January, has been linked with a move for a number of strikers including Roma star Pablo Osvaldo and Brazil international Leandro Damiao.
Should striking reinforcements arrive, former Bristol Rovers frontman Lambert may be pushed closer to the St Mary's exit door.
West Ham tried to sign the Englishman in January and had at least one bid turned down by the Saints while former boss Adkins, now at Reading, is also believed to be keen.
Lambert only agreed a contract extension in March and is happy to stay at the club unless he is told otherwise.
An offer in excess of £6million could tempt Pochettino to sell considering Lambert is now the wrong side of 30.
