AC Milan are the latest top club to express an interest in Cagliari defender Davide Astori, who has been linked to Southampton.
The Saints looked to take the 26-year-old stopper during the January transfer window but failed to strike a deal with the Italian Serie A outfit.
The £10million-rated defender has since alerted the likes of Inter Milan and Spartak Moscow to his potential availability as it looks certain that he will quit Cagliari at the end of this season.
However, reports in Italy are now claiming that Milan, where Astori started his career, are interested in taking him back to the San Siro as they look to shore up their defence ahead of next season.
Therefore Saints coach Mauricio Pochettino will face a real battle on his hands if he is to win the race to take the player to St Mary's in the summer.
