Southampton have not yet made a concrete offer to Barcelona SC for defender Frickson Erazo, according to reports in his native Ecuador.
Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has already bolstered his central defensive ranks with the £8.5million capture of Croatian stopper Dejan Lovren, has been heavily linked with a £2.5million swoop for the 25-year-old.
However, while Erazo, who spent four years with El Nacional before moving to Ecuadorian rivals and title winners Barcelona SC, is believed to be very interested in a move to St Mary's, reports claim nothing has been forthcoming from the Premier League side.
Therefore if Pochettino is looking to sign Erazo, who has 21 caps for Ecuador, it will not be happening in the immediate future.
If he does join then Saints fans will hope he turns out a better acquisition than the three Ecuadorian players who have previously been at the club.
The £4million striker Agustin Delgado angered former boss Gordon Strachan by frequently returning to his homeland for treatment on his knee problems, his cousin Kleber Chala joined at the same time but never featured for the first-team. Winger Federico Arias also failed to make a single appearance for the Saints during his short time on the south coast.
