Southampton are hopeful that Dani Osvaldo will return to face Hull at St Mary's on Saturday after missing the last two league games.
The club's record signing missed the 2-0 home win against Fulham almost a fortnight ago because of a knock that he suffered in training in the lead up to the game.
It was thought Osvaldo would return to the attack for last weekend's 1-1 draw at Stoke, but he failed to make the cut and was not risked by boss Mauricio Pochettino.
And, having also missed the 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat at Sunderland on Wednesday, Osvaldo is now looking to be involved when Steve Bruce's Tigers visit this weekend.
It is being claimed the injury is not serious, but as it affects his lower back and hip, the club do not want to take any unnecessary risks with him.
Pochettino made 10 changes for the cup match against the Black Cats and is likely to bring back the players who sat out the game at the Stadium of Light.
Therefore only striker Jay Rodriguez is set to be involved who was also on duty this week.
