Pochettino eyes Espanyol striker

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly considering a raid on Espanyol to bolster his attacking options as he takes a look at Sergio Garcia.

The Southampton boss is said to be weighing up whether to replace Pablo Osvaldo in the current transfer window after the Italian striker's failure to settle at St Mary's following his summer move from Roma.

Pochettino is looking towards his old club Espanyol for the answer to his attacking problems and has earmarked the Spanish side's captain Garcia as a potential candidate.

The 30-year-old has scored seven times in La Liga this season and it might take a sizeable offer from the Saints to persuade the Catalan outfit to part with their talisman.

Reports suggest Espanyol would want at least £5million for Garcia and Southampton might decide to look elsewhere if they can't bring the price down, given the striker's age.
