Jason Puncheon's future at Southampton remains in the balance as his contract continues to run down at St Mary's.

The 26-year-old winger is the most influential of nine players in the Saints squad who will be able to leave the club on a Bosman free transfer in the summer if they are not tied down to new deals in the meantime.

Puncheon has been in excellent form for the Saints this season and, while boss Mauricio Pochettino is almost certain to want to keep him, Puncheon has made no secret of his desire to remain at the south-coast outfit.

When recently asked if he wanted to be at Southampton beyond this season, he said: "I'm hoping to be, I'm happy here, and that's the most important thing."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who only signed for the club as a free agent in September, is also set to fall out of contract at the end of the season and, following some impressive displays between the sticks, he is also likely to be kept on.
