Frazer Richardson and Richard Chaplow remain Southampton's only absentees for this weekend's clash with Newcastle.
Right-back Richardson is out after suffering a recurrence of a thigh injury last week, while Chaplow continues to undergo treatment for his own fitness concern.
Guly do Prado and Artur Boruc could be involved after being left out of the squad selected by Nigel Adkins for the games with Swansea and QPR, which saw Saints pick up four points.
Adkins is quietly optimistic about his side's chances of building on those positive results, although he has had to warn them about keeping their standards high during training this week.
He said: "The players are buoyed from the last couple of performances and it has been a good week of training.
"The spirit has been good, and there is a confidence about the players. I think we have seen a growing maturity about the side who have become accustomed to the division now.
"The early part of the week was very good, but I must say after the first 20 minutes of the session today I had to stop it and say 'come on, don't just go through the emotions, you have to up it.'
"We can't think what we did last week will be good enough to see us through.
"You have to be on it in every single training session."
