Saints eye deal for Wanyama's brother

Southampton are reportedly trying to sign Victor Wanyama's brother from Inter Milan, midfielder McDonald Mariga.

The Kenya international, 26, currently on loan at Parma in Serie A, is the older brother of Saints star Victor and could be reunited with his sibling in the new year transfer window.

Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to strengthen his squad in January as he looks to build on what has been a fine start to the season in the Premier League and he has apparently identified Mariga as a key signing.

Mariga came close to joining Manchester City in January 2010 from Parma but was not granted a work permit and instead went to Inter but he has struggled to force his way into the first-team at the San Siro in recent years.

He has impressed, however, on loan at Real Sociedad and also back at Parma last season, and is now being tipped to team up with his brother at St Mary's for the second half of the current campaign.
