West Brom look set to rival Southampton in the race to sign Malaga's £5million-rated captain and right-back Jesus Gamez.
Albion were among 20 clubs represented by scouts when financially-troubled Malaga faced Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday night.
And, with boss Steve Clarke still on the lookout for a regular right-back for his back four next season, Gamez would have been one of the players on show that the Baggies would be interested in.
The 28-year-old is under contract with Malaga - his local club - until 2016, but with the financial turmoil currently surrounding La Rosaleda, Gamez could lead a mass exodus this summer.
Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino was understood to be targeting the defender who has made over 200 appearances for Malaga during an eight-year spell.
But Southampton were not among the eight Premier League and 12 other non-Spanish clubs at the Sevilla game - which finished as a 0-0 draw.
