Saints linked with Young deal

Southampton are targeting an ambitious move for Manchester United winger Ashley Young in January, according to reports.

Young has been inconsistent for United this season and has often found himself left out by new boss David Moyes at Old Trafford.

He has subsequently been linked with a move away in the new year and Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has apparently targeted the England international.

The winger, who has made just thee starts for United this season, would not come cheap as he cost the Red Devils £17million from Aston Villa in 2011, but Saints may tempt Moyes into a deal if they offer around £8-10million.

Another bargaining tool for Southampton could be to include left-back Luke Shaw in the deal. Fresh reports on Monday suggest United are lining up a January offer for the talented teenager and would be prepared to pay in excess of £15million for the youngster, who has also been linked to Chelsea in the past.

Saints will do all they can to hold on to Shaw, who is tipped to break into the full England squad this season.
