Southampton could have Luke Shaw and Gaston Ramirez available for their next Premier League outing at Newcastle on February 24.
The duo missed Saturday's thrilling 3-1 win against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at St Mary's but with the weekend off because of the FA Cup fifth round, they have now got extra time to recover.
Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino could be boosted by having both men in his squad for the trip to St James' Park on Saturday week.
Record signing Ramirez had a knock and 17-year-old full-back Shaw was suffering from a ligament problem ahead of the City game.
Meanwhile, Pochettino has praised the 'extraordinary' talents of striker Rickie Lambert following his performance against City.
He told reporters: "For me, he's an extraordinary footballer. When I see his career, I'm surprised he hasn't played longer in the Premier League.
"He has many qualities and none are outstanding over the others. It's well known he's a good player, he can shoot well and he's skilful, what surprised me is his mentality."
