Saints safety is 'obvious' - boss

Mauricio Pochettino reflected on Southampton's 4-2 defeat at Newcastle by claiming it is "obvious" that they will not be relegated.

The Argentinian was disappointed with the St James' Park reverse on Sunday - only his second defeat since replacing Nigel Adkins at St Mary's last month - which leaves the side precariously placed in 16th spot and just three points ahead of the Premier League's bottom three places.

However, Pochettino has seen enough from his players to leave him in no doubt that the Saints will still be in the Premier League next season.

"It is obvious that we will stay in the Premier League," he said. "I have the same worries as all the teams that are in that part of the table. It's neither more nor less, it is the same, but I do have confidence in my team."
