Southampton new boy Billy Sharp is claiming his first goal for the club against Burnley on Saturday.

The striker, who joined Saints from Doncaster late last month, got a touch on Rickie Lambert's cross before it bounced off Clarets defender Ben Mee and into the net to seal a 2-0 win for the hosts.

"I'd like to claim it - because why would he want it?" said Sharp.

"My foot was in there. It wasn't the best of goals but hopefully I'll score many more times for Southampton.

"It was a scrappy goal, but if I get it I'll be delighted. Although, if it goes down as an own-goal then I can see why."
