Southampton maintain Hunt interest

Werder Bremen midfielder Aaron Hunt says he make a decision on his future this month amid reports Southampton want him.

The 27-year-old looks set to become a free agent at the end of the season when his contract expires and has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League as a result.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is believed to be monitoring the midfielder's situation in Germany, while Southampton have also been credited with an interest in him.

Werder are desperate to see Hunt stay though and opened contract negotiations with him in February. However progress has been slow and the two parties are still thought to be someway off an agreement.

Hunt has previously given Stoke and Southampton hope he will be available at the end of the season, and has now revealed he will make a decision on his future by the end of March.

"We have talked about it," he told Sky Deutschland television. "My plan is to put up the decision during the next month.

"I may have decided it by mid-month or at least at the end of the month."
