Spanish pair eye Saints hitman

Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Valencia have been linked with a bid for Dani Osvaldo amid new claims he is unsettled at Southampton.

Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has already hit out at reports that the big-money arrival from AS Roma in the summer transfer window has found it difficult to settle on the south coast and is looking to depart in January.

The Argentinian tactician claimed the previous stories should be ignored by the fans and he insisted that Osvaldo will become a top Premier League player once he gets to grips with the English game.

However, that has not quelled the speculation surrounding Osvaldo's future at St Mary's which has resulted in Atletico and Valencia expressing an interest in taking the Italy international to Spain to bolster their respective attacking options in January.

It is thought Osvaldo, who played in La Liga between 2009 and 2011, scoring 22 goals in two seasons with Espanyol, would prefer a move back to Italy and Inter Milan would be favourites to sign him if he expressed a desire to leave.
