Marek Saganowski has left Southampton to join Danish Superliga club Aalborg BK on a five-month loan deal.
The 29-year-old had been told by new coach Jan Poortvliet that he would not figure in his plans for the forthcoming season so has decided to try his luck elsewhere.
The Danish outfit are now managed by former Bolton and Arsenal boss Bruce Rioch, who could look to turn the move into a permanent deal if he impresses.
The Poland international scored just three goals for Saints last season.
