Fiorentina have been linked with a swoop for Southampton star Gaston Ramirez, who has admitted he would be interested in joining them.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins splashed out £12million to sign the 22-year-old Uruguayan midfield playmaker from Bologna in the summer ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Inter Milan.
And, following his recovery from an early season injury, Ramirez has started repaying the Saints with some accomplished displays with two goals and two assists in nine league appearances this season.
However, with the Saints struggling in the relegation places following the first half of the season, sources in Italy are claiming Fiorentina are preparing to take him back to Serie A in January.
Adkins would be loathe to lose Ramirez after only four months at St Mary's but the player did little to dampen the possibility of him departing when asked about moving to Viola.
He said: "Me to Fiorentina? It would be nice, they are playing very well and I like coach (Vincenzo) Montella.
"In every game the team are having fun, they have great quality. Why not? I'd come back in Italy, I like it and I was fine there."
