West Ham are in the race to land Southampton winger Jason Puncheon but face a battle with Newcastle for his services.
The winger is out of contract at the end of the season and, although he would like to stay at St Mary's, Southampton appear to be stalling over a new deal.
That, along with a six goals from the wing this season, has alerted other clubs to his possible availability and the 26-year-old would not be short of suitors.
Puncheon was placed on the transfer list last season after a spat with Saints chairman Nicola Cortese and, although they are said to have patched up their differences, Cortese appears reluctant to offer him a new deal, until Premier League status is confirmed.
