Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has revealed his delight after Hull boss Steve Bruce likened him to David Beckham.

Ward-Prowse has played a key role in helping the south coast club to third in the Premier League table after 11 games of the campaign.

The 19-year-old's performances in midfield have led to high praise from a number of managers in the division and Bruce is the latest to have his say.

The Tigers boss believes that the England under-21 international has a number of similarities to former England captain Beckham and is certain he will have a big future in the game.

Ward-Prowse said: "I saw that and it is nice to be compared to someone like that.

"He is a boyhood hero of mine. He is someone I have modelled my attributes on - especially his free-kick taking and his set-piece delivery. I often stop after training with Rickie Lambert and practice."
