St Mirren's players have been ordered to stay away from training as the club tries to shake off a sickness bug in the camp.

The Buddies squad has been ravaged by a mystery virus which has struck up to eight players and backroom staff, including strikers John Potter and Rory Loy, goalkeeper Paul Gallacher and defender Lee Mair.

Boss Gus MacPherson told his players to stay away from training to try and prevent further casualties ahead of the Hearts clash.

MacPherson said: "We've had the bug since last Friday and unfortunately it continued over the weekend.

"All we could do was give the guys a couple of days off and hope they're okay for the Hearts game."
