Gus MacPherson has praised his players for playing through illness against Aberdeen and insists he never thought about calling it off.

The Buddies squad were struck down with illness ahead of the 2-1 defeat at Pittodrie, with a number of first-team players struck down by a bug ahead of the game.

John Potter, Lee Mair and Paul Gallacher were all struggling with sickness during the game and MacPherson was proud of the the performance.

The Buddies boss said: "When your squad is as small as ours, you are restricted in the options that you have got. It's credit to the players that they all just get on with it.

"They don't feel sorry for themselves and just try to get the best out of themselves."
