Stevenage manager Graham Westley felt his side showed Leyton Orient too much respect in the first half of their goalless draw at Brisbane Road.

Stevenage nearly collected all three points when a 20-yard effort from Phil Edwards struck the upright with Orient goalkeeper Ben Alnwick beaten.

Westley said: "We are disappointed with our first-half performance, we were too keen to stay in the game rather than take the game to them.

"It was a strong opening from us for five or 10 minutes, but we sat off the game a little bit really. In the second-half I think we took the game to them, showed our athleticism, played some good football and created enough chances to win the game."

Westley, who signed Luke Freeman on loan from Arsenal during the week, added: "The lads are doing well after their promotion last season, they're learning their new level and are starting to acclimatise.

"We've shown that we haven't got quite enough in the camp at the moment to win on a consistent enough basis, so we are looking to add a little bit of strength here and there."
