Defender doubts surface

StokeAbdoulaye Faye is doubtful for Sunday's game against Tottenham Hotspur after picking up a knock on international duty.

The Potters defender picked up a minor injury during Senegal's 1-1 draw with Gambia on Saturday - a result which condemns the Lions of Teranga to World Cup elimination sparked riots among fans in Dakar.

Stoke first team coach Martin O'Connor has revealed it will be a late decision on whether he makes the clash with Spurs.

"We're not sure about Abdoulaye yet, that'll be right up to the whistle" he said.

"He picked up a little knock at the weekend playing for his country so we will reassess him ahead of the game.

"The Senegalese lads are all a bit down in the dumps at the moment after getting knocked out of the World Cup qualifiers but I think they will be fine for the game."

Andrew Davies remains out of contention to fill in for Faye, but Ryan Shawcross could get the opportunity he has been waiting for.
