Stoke midfielder Amdy Faye has joined Danny Higginbotham on the sidelines for the rest of the campaign because of back surgery.

The Senegal star has been out since the start of March but he needs surgery so will not play again this season which adds to boss Tony Pulis' selection problems.

The boss told the Sentinel: "I'm afraid Amdy will be out for the rest of the season now because they've decided he needs the operation.

"Again, it's a disappointment for us because Amdy has done well for us this season and we're now missing quite a few players."

On the plus side, the Potters appear to have done enough to avoid relegation given the fact they are eight points clear of the drop zone with just four games left to play this term.
