Stoke are hoping to add another striker to their ranks this summer after holding talks with Greek hitman Angelos Charisteas' agent.

Boss Tony Pulis recently snapped up Dave Kitson from Reading for £5.5million and is clearly looking to add more firepower to the Stoke front line at the Britannia Stadium ahead of the big Premier League kick-off on August 16.

Pulis held discussions with representatives of 28-year-old Charisteas on Tuesday evening in the club's Austrian hotel after the player scored the winning goal for German side FC Nuremberg in their friendly encounter.

Charisteas, who scored Greece's only goal in Euro 2008 in the 2-1 defeat against Spain, is looking to play in the Premier League but it seems Nuremberg are asking too much for his signature at this stage of proceedings.

If no agreement can be reached then Pulis will no doubt switch his attentions to other possible targets in time for the big kick-off in just over three weeks' time.
