Stoke star Liam Lawrence has approached Stoke about a better deal but insists he is not motivated by money.
The talented playmaker proved his worth in the Premier League last season and was a key component in Stoke's impressive first season in the top-flight.
Injury problems restricted him to just 20 appearances in the league for the Potters but the midfielder started all of Stoke's final 13 games, which saw them push up into the mid-table positions, and now wants to be rewarded with improved terms.
"I have read stuff about me wanting to be on £30,000 a week," Lawrence told The Sentinel.
"That's not true. I can't expect to go from less than £10,000 and ask for a 200 per cent increase.
"I am not greedy and this is not just about the money. It is about staying at Stoke for the long-term."
The 27-year-old revealed Stoke are set to offer him improved terms and he remains optimistic a deal can be sorted out soon so he can concentrate on his football at the Britannia Stadium.
He added: "Stoke are writing to me with an official offer, so I'm waiting to find out what the terms are,"
"I'm hoping we can come to some sort of an agreement because I would like to get it all sorted before we report back.
"I have been here since the start of the journey when things were taking off. Now I want to stay at Stoke and spend my best years here."
