Stoke defender Danny Collins is a January target for Premier League rivals Bolton, according to reports.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is on the lookout for defensive cover at the Reebok Stadium after England centre back Gary Cahill finally completed his £7million move to Chelsea at the start of the week.
American Tim Ream is said to be close to joining the Trotters but Coyle wants further additions to his squad and speculation at the end of the week suggests that he is weighing up a move for Collins.
The Wales international has not played for Stoke this season but scored three times in 16 games on loan at Ipswich before returning to the Britannia Stadium last month.
The 31-year-old has made 57 appearances for Stoke since his £2.75m move from Sunderland in August 2009 but his first-team chances with the Potters look bleak and manager Tony Pulis hinted last month that players will have to leave if he is to do any business in this month's transfer market.
