Tony Pulis felt Stoke's players were 'brilliant' in the 0-0 draw at Sunderland but thought they could have snatched all three points.

The Potters were defensively strong at the Stadium of Light as they restricted Steve Bruce's Black Cats in the final third of the field, while Dean Whitehead missed a golden chance to score against his former club after just two minutes on Monday night. Despite having to settle for a point, Pulis could not complain about the effort put in from his players as they stretched their unbeaten run to five games.

"I thought the lads were brilliant because it's always difficult coming to the Stadium of Light with the crowd and everything else," said Pulis.

"That's a £30million strikeforce and they haven't had a shot on goal.

"You look at Darren Bent, who cost them £15million, and you look at Kenwyne Jones, who some people say they've turned down £15million for.

"There's only two teams who have come here and won so that shows you how tough it is.

"It's a great point for us and we could have even got all three."
