Potters hitman set for loan exit

Middlesbrough have been linked with a loan raid for Stoke City striker Dave Kitson to boost their poor goalscoring form.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Potters from Reading in a £5.5million deal in summer 2008, has only scored twice in 23 league games for the club as he has struggled for first-team action at the Britannia Stadium.

Kitson did spend time on loan at his former club Reading last term and scored twice in 13 outings at the Madejski Stadium. And Boro boss Gordon Strachan is looking to take him to the Riverside Stadium to help his shot-shy forward line.

Strachan only has Leroy Lita, Marvin Emnes and loan man Marcus Bent to call on due to Jeremie Aliadiere and loan man Caleb Folan's respective ankle and hamstring problems. Therefore Kitson would provide a fourth option and hand him some valuable playing time as opposed to being condemned to Stoke's reserves.
