Stoke are being linked with a raid on Man City for Zimbabwean striker Benjani who has fallen down the pecking order.

The 30-year-old is behind Roque Santa Cruz in the pecking order and will slip further off the pace once Carlos Tevez completes his expected switch to Eastlands.

The Blues are also still in with a chance of landing Barcelona ace Samuel Eto'o and so would allow Benjani to move on this summer.

The former Portsmouth man has been blighted by injury since swapping Pompey for City so the Potters would put him through a stringent medical.

Stoke have previously played down links with West Ham's Dean Ashton and Obafemi Martins of Newcastle.
