Wigan and Stoke are being linked with Mexico striker Guillermo Franco who has already held talks with West Ham.

The 32-year-old, who has 18 caps for his country, is out of contract after his deal at Villarreal expired in the summer at the end of a campaign when he played second fiddle to Guiseppe Rossi and Joseba Llorente.

The Hammers are trying to tempt Franco to Upton Park to bolster their forward line but Latics and the Potters have also been credited with an interest.

His agent told the Mirror: "We haven't decided anything yet as several English clubs have been in touch about him."

Stoke already have an embarrassment of riches up front, with James Beattie, Ricardo Fuller, Dave Kitson, Mamady Sidibe and Richard Creswell competing for two places.
