Stoke City have been told to end their pursuit of Hannover 96 striker Mame Biram Diouf who has emerged as a top target for Mark Hughes.
Hughes is eager to try and add some extra firepower to his new side after they struggled to convert enough chances and were dragged into a relegation battle at the end of last term.
Diouf has impressed during his time in the Bundesliga, scoring 27 goals in 51 games since leaving Manchester United in 2012 after making just five first-team appearances.
Hannover sporting director Dirk Dufner insists that the club are under no constraints to get rid of the player and they will be doing everything possible to keep him on their books for the new season.
Dufner said: "[He] will certainly remain with us until the end of the season."
