Tony Pulis has hinted that he will bench Saturday's hero Steve Simonsen and play fit-again keeper Thomas Sorensen against Pompey.

The Denmark international pulled out of the 1-0 win at Tottenham with a stomach complaint, but is straight back into the reckoning for the Carling Cup clash at Fratton Park.

Striker Mamady Sidibe is set to make his first senior appearance since undergoing surgery on a damaged cruciate ligament seven months ago, while Tuncay, Dave Kitson, Liam Lawrence and Danny Higginbotham are all set to start.

Pulis is set to start the 29-year-old Mali forward despite seeing him come off in a midweek reserve team outing last week.

"Mama only came off in the reserve game because he had a dead leg and I know he would love to play [tonight]," said Pulis.

"He's a big, strong and very determined lad and I wouldn't be surprised if he got through 90 minutes for us."
