Shawcross worry for Potters

Stoke are sweating on the fitness of Ryan Shawcross after the defender picked up a groin injury against Manchester United.

The Potters crashed out of the Capital One Cup at the quarter-final stage when losing 2-0 to Manchester United, and the night got worse as Shawcross picked up an injury.

Potters boss Mark Hughes has yet to discover the full extent of the damage and will be keeping his fingers crossed it is nothing serious as the loss of his influential skipper would be a huge blow at a crucial stage of the season.

"We don't know how bad it is," said Hughes. "We will have to see tomorrow. It is a big blow if we lose him because we are without Robert Huth at the moment."
