Dutch international left-back Erik Pieters is undergoing a medical at Stoke City after a £3million fee was agreed with PSV Eindhoven.
PSV allowed Pieters to speak to Stoke on Thursday and it is understood that he has travelled over to look at the training ground facilities and meet Mark Hughes.
The 24-year-old is about to enter the final year of his contract with the Dutch giants, who know that this is their last opportunity to receive a meaningful transfer fee for the defender.
Pieters has 17 caps for the Netherlands, but missed Euro 2012 with a foot injury.
He was out for almost three months last season after badly injuring his hand and arm after punching a window following a red card in a 3-1 home defeat to PEC Zwolle.
