Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross is being linked with a return to Manchester United as David Moyes looks to bolster his back four.
It is not the first time rumours have surfaced suggesting that Shawcross is wanted back at Old Trafford, but with Rio Ferdinand nearing the end of his career and Nemanja Vidic struggling with injuries, Moyes is stepping up his search for new central defenders and the Potters ace is on his wanted list.
Shawcross was forced to leave United for Stoke in 2007 as the Reds had a number of quality youngsters coming through the ranks and his chances were limited.
Sir Alex Ferguson later admitted it was a mistake to let him go and now it would cost United big money to get him back.
Shawcross has always insisted he is happy at Stoke but would no doubt be tempted by a move back to Old Trafford if handed to opportunity to cement himself in Moyes' back four.
Stoke could use the money to sign Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott, who is being heavily linked with a move to the Potteries.
