Stoke City have hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Benfica striker Nelson Oliviera, who has attracted interest from other clubs.
Stoke were understood to be on the verge of securing a deal for the 21-year-old on a season-long loan and he was expected to link up with the rest of the squad for the end of their pre-season tour in America.
Oliviera's representatives have been exploring other avenues for the Portugal international to ply his trade for the upcoming season with West Ham and French side Rennes entering the race.
Mark Hughes had outlined the former Braga man as a key target for the Potters as he looks to try and reshape the side that struggled to compete in the top-flight last term.
