Sunderland face competition from Palermo if they want to land Manchester City youngster John Guidetti next month.
The Black Cats are closing in on the youngster, who has not appeared for City's first team this season but who made his name in Holland last term scoring 20 goals in 23 matches for Feynoord whilst on loan.
Palermo chief Pietro Lo Monaco has moved quickly as he has held talks with City officials about signing the Swedish international and taking him to Sicily and he may get the jump on Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill, who is also looking to strengthen his frontline.
