Sunderland are believed to be the club who have had an £8.5million bid accepted for the Juventus midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini.
The 28-year-old is known to be on Paolo Di Canio's lengthy list of transfer targets this summer, but there have been several other interested parties after his impressive performances for Italy at the Confederations Cup.
Juve boss Antonio Conte has been reluctant to sell the midfielder but has been left with little options, with the Serie A champions looking to recoup some money after spending over £20million on Carlos Tevez and Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna.
Conte has admitted to the Italian media: "Any departure is painful, but it is a necessary sacrifice. To me, every player is non- transferable, but I understand the needs of the club."
Former Cesena player Giaccherini is now expected to travel to England to discuss personal terms with fellow countyman Di Canio and undergo a medical at the Stadium of Light.
