Sunderland are ready to do battle with Blackburn for Newcastle defender Habib Beye, according to reports.
Both the Black Cats and Rovers are keen to bolster their defences for next season and Beye, who looks set to leave St James' Park this summer, is on their list of targets.
Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce signed Beye when he was in charge of Newcastle and is keen to be re-united with the defender if he can agree a fee with the Magpies.
That will not be a problem for Steve Bruce, who could have as much as £50million to spend this summer if reports are to be believed.
