Sunderland have edged closer to completing a deal for striker Jozy Altidore with reports claiming AZ Alkmaar have now accepted a bid.
Black Cats chief Paolo Di Canio has targeted the 23-year-old American international forward as the man to add some goals to his strikeforce.
And, after failing with a bid in the region of £5million earlier in the week, it now seems they have met the Dutch outfit's valuation of the player who scored 31 goals in the Eredivisie last season.
Di Canio must believe that Altidore can now score goals in the Premier League given that he only managed a solitary strike for Hull City in 28 appearances during a loan spell in the 2010-11 campaign.
Altidore actually revealed details of the move on his personal website late on Friday evening before then removing it. But it appears the deal is now going ahead and he will put pen-to-paper on Monday subject to a passing a medical on Wearside.
