Sunderland are ready to make a £5million move for Richard Dunne, while Eidur Gudjohnson is also a target for boss Steve Bruce.

Bruce is thought to have been handed a £50million transfer kitty this summer and he is ready to start splashing the cash with a number of big names on his wanted list.

Dunne is a target for the Black Cats as his future at Manchester City remains shrouded in doubt and it is thought a bid in the region of £5million would be enough to strike a deal.

City are looking to draft in targets of their own and a deal for Dunne could be pushed through this week, if reports are to be believed.

Meanwhile, Bruce is ready to turn to Gudjohnson as he steps up his search for a new striker. The former Bolton and Chelsea man has become frustrated with his lack of action at the Nou Camp and wants to return to the Premiership.

Bruce was said to be in pole position to land Kevin Doyle from Reading but is now setting his sights higher and will spend the money on Gudjohnson instead.

As soon as Bruce makes his first signing, we will send out mobile alerts on our new sms service.
