Sunderland have agreed a deal with Turkish Super Lig side Bursaspor to sign France Under-21 star Alfred N'Diaye, according to reports.
The Black Cats had an initial approach rejected by Bursaspor last week but they have now agreed a deal for £3.2m depending on a medical and the player agreeing personal terms.
The 21-year-old midfield enforcer started his career with French club Nancy before moving to Bursaspor in July 2011 and is due on Wearside to finalise the deal in the next few hours.
If confirmed, he will become boss Martin O'Neill's first signing of the January transfer window.
Elsewhere, O'Neill has insisted he was not making a point when he named just six substitutes - rather than the seven allowed - for the FA Cup third-round clash with Bolton on Saturday.
