Defensive worry for Sunderland

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has an injury concern over defender John O'Shea for the Boxing Day trip to Everton but Wes Brown is out.

Republic of Ireland defender O'Shea landed badly on his shoulder during the insipid draw with Norwich last weekend and faces a late test on the problem before a decision is made.

Fellow defender Brown starts the first of a three-game ban for his sending off in the same game after his reckless tackle on Ricky van Wolfswinkel in injury time.

Keeper Keiren Westwood is still out with a shoulder injury and Carlos Cuellar is absent with a hip problem.
