Sunderland hope to have Kenwyne Jones back available for the clash against Newcastle United on October 25.

The Trinidad and Tobago ace has not played this season after damaging knee ligaments while playing for his country against England back in June but is now closing on a return.

The striker is back in his homeland attending a funeral but he does have a club physio with him and Keane is getting regular reports with regards to his progress.

Next Saturday's game against Fulham is a no-go but Keane seems to have pencilled him in for the big Tyne-Wear derby the week after.

"The downside is Kenwyne's not under our roof where we can monitor him but we are getting reports daily and he's doing well," Keane told the club's website.

"The Fulham game will come too early for him but we'd hope he's available after that
