However, Keane is now aiming to complete the four player raid on Spurs by wrapping up deals for French midfielder Malbranque and Morocco-born French defender Kaboul, while three more new faces could also be on the way in.
Speaking after the Black Cats 4-0 friendly win against Cobh Ramblers in Cork on Monday, Keane told the club's website: "I would like to bring in four or five more, including the two players from Tottenham.
"We will know on them in the next 24 hours. It's a big decision for them I appreciate that, but we need to know one way or the other.
"There are one or two things to sort out but hopefully by tonight we will know whether they are Sunderland players."
