Malbranque poised to sign

Sunderland are hoping to wrap up a deal for Steed Malbranque with the Spurs midfielder undergoing a medical at the Stadium of Light.

Roy Keane's recruitment drive has gathered pace over the last couple of weeks with El-Hadji Diouf, Teemu Tainio and Pascal Chimbonda all signing for the club and now Malbranque is ready to follow their lead.

The Black Cats agreed an undisclosed fee with Spurs last week and now the player is undergoing a medical before agreeing personal terms and signing on the dotted line.

However, Keane does look to have missed out on Younes Kaboul, who is reported to have snubbed a move to Sunderland in favour of joining Portsmouth.
