Midfielder leaves on loan

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has allowed midfielder David Vaughan to leave the club and join Nottingham Forest on loan for two months.

The 30-year-old Wales international is set to make his debut against the club where he made a real name for himself, Blackpool, this weekend after agreeing to a deal that runs until January 29th.

Vaughan joined the Black Cats from the Seasiders on a free transfer in 2011 and had made 59 senior appearances, scoring three goals along the way, the most memorable of which was a stunning strike in the 3-0 derby victory at Newcastle in April.

With his contract running out next summer the move maybe a prelude to a permanent deal.
